Why “Salt Creek”?
The name means more than you think.
Salt Creek is a small, winding creek in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. I passed this little creek for the last 20 years. I always loved its name. It reminded me of my deep love for the ocean, my barefoot childhood adventures, and the kind of honest, muddy, hands-in-the-creek work that real impact takes.
Over time, the name Salt Creek began to mean something more. It reminded me that Jesus calls us to be the salt and light of the earth — to serve, preserve, and shine.
I didn’t always know what Salt Creek would become. But I knew I was called to help students, families, educators, and communities. From a high school dropout to a graduate student, I’ve experienced the power of education. Now, through Salt Creek Learning, I have the opportunity to give back by empowering the next leader, one IEP at a time.
